ArtWorks on the Summit: An artist run cooperative
McKean County | Allegheny National Forest and Surrounds Landscape of the PA Wilds

ArtWorks on the Summit is an artist-run cooperative located in the Allegheny National Forest and Surrounds Landscape of the PA Wilds region. Once you step into ArtWorks on the Summit you will immediately feel the inspiration from the surrounding forests. You will see beautiful hand-turned wooden bowls carved from local timber, paintings of the woods and streams, floral fashion accessories, pottery imprinted with nature, and the scents of soaps and candles taking you into the wilds.
In 2006, a group of artists and art supporters gathered together with a common purpose of promoting the visual arts in this region. Their mission is to identify, develop, and promote cultural identity in the Northern Allegheny region. More than a decade later, they have a brick-and-mortar shop at 54 North Fraley Street in the heart of Kane, PA. You will find one-of-a-kind creations and many beautiful hand-crafted items: paintings, prints, pottery, jewelry, home decor, soaps, candles, hand-painted scarves and other fashion accessories.
ArtWorks on the Summit is more than just an art gallery and shop. The 36-plus member cooperative is working to achieve its goals:
- To provide resources and incentive for our local artists.
- To provide experience for young people interested in pursuing creative careers.
- To allow more experienced artists to focus their own creative energies.
In an effort to uplift young creatives, while also honoring one of their past members, the Artworks on the Summit developed their Creating Buzz initiative. Creating Buzz encourages students and emerging artists in their creative pursuits through workshops and other resources.
ArtWorks on the Summit acknowledges that local artists do their creative work surrounded by not only the inspirational Northern Allegheny natural resources but also by the interaction and support of fellow artists and art lovers.
