Bent Run Brewing: A treat along the Allegheny

Warren County | Allegheny National Forest & Surrounds of the PA Wilds

Nestled along the banks of the Allegheny River in the PA Wilds, Bent Run Brewing Company is a small-batch craft brewery offering a variety of tasty beers and culinary delights.

Phil Caudill’s brewing hobby began in 2017, and it wasn’t long before it outgrew his home. A year later, Phil and his wife Denise were formalizing a small business.

The name of the brewery, “Bent Run,” nods to another Allegheny National Forest & Surrounds landmark, Bent Run Waterfalls, located within Kinzua Bridge State Park.

“My wife, our friends and myself are all big outdoorsmen, and we remembered the waterfalls that feed the reservoir in the Allegheny National Forest are called Bent Run,” Phil told GoErie.com in 2019. “We originally started brewing our home brew with spring water, so that was a nice connection.”

And the company quickly found successes.

In its first year of operation, Bent Run was invited to participate in the PA Farm Show’s inaugural beer competition. The brewery entered six beers and wound up winning a first-place award and two third-place awards for its IPAs.

The young company was located about 10 miles outside of Warren, but recently Bent Run relocated to an industrial-style building in downtown Warren. At that location, the brewery is joined by two other businesses in the Wilds Cooperative of PA: Allegheny Outfitters and Goat Fort Indoor Climbing.
