The City of Bradford, through its Main Street program and supporting committees, strives to connect visitors to the beautiful, scenic, Bradford area. Bradford is the northern gateway from New York State and is located on Rt. 219. The area is rich in history and outdoor recreation. Bradford is the home of approximately 35 miles of recreational hiking/biking trails. One of the trails connects to the City's nationally and state registered historic district. There is no better way to explore Bradford's history than on foot! The City's Main Street is currently undergoing a multi-phased streetscape project (Phase I will be completed in October 2019, Phase II will completed in 2020). Business recruitment is very important to the Main Street program. The program was responsible for beginning the Main Street Mercantile (now privately owned), a business incubator, and for helping to re-open the privately/locally owned movie theatre (located in an anchor, art deco style, building on Main Street). The McKean County Arts council recently located to a historic building within the district. The Bradford Chocolate Factory is scheduled to open in November. The Brew Street Station recently opened just off Main Street. It is hoped that this groundwork will help the growth of artisan and craft related businesses that will attract more tourists and vacationers to the City's historic district.
