My business helps households and restaurants divert their food scraps from the landfill. It does so in a smaller footprint -- compared to a traditional composting operation -- by utilizing black soldier fly larvae. This approach to food scrap diversion also generates products in addition to compost: dried larvae for backyard birds and the manure of the larvae for gardeners. While insect farming is difficult in a region with 4 seasons, it is a speedy solution to dramatically reduce the volume of wasted food while creating a variety of products for any and every gardener or nature lover.
