In 2019 we launched the first prototypes of the Rich Port Board Company. We put a few up for sale and a few up for rent. That’s when things got interesting! We quickly realized that Northcentral PA had a heavy kayak culture, and the demand turned quickly to kayak rentals. We started out with our two boats and two boards in our garage in 2019. By 2022 we were up over 40 vessels between kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. With the focus shifting from board production to the rental business, the Rich Port Board Company became the Rich Port Adventure Company. In the Fall of 2022, we made it from our garage to our first shop on 50 Angletown Rd. We now offer kayak, canoe, paddle board, tube, mountain bike, and electric bike rentals as well as hiking tours and shuttles. 2022 also saw the birth of the Rich Port Cafe, our on site food truck serving authentic Puerto Rican beach food! (Empanadas are my favorite) With the shift into our first retail location, we’ve also revived the Rich Port Board Company, with new Paddle Boards and Skateboards dropping in 2023. We continue to add brands and niche outdoor gear that you wouldn’t traditionally find in nearby stores.
