I have been turning wood for 6 years after retiring from my construction business. I now have the time to focus my energy on this creative outlet. I primarily turn functional art, such as, wine stoppers, salt and pepper grinders, bowls, bottle openers, flower vases with glass inserts, candle holders and bird houses. I also turn deer, elk, turkey, duck and goose calls. I start the process by finding interesting types of local wood, whether it be a burl, curly maple or birds eye maple. I am also able to procure exotic woods from around the world for an extra special piece. I enjoy turning items that hold a sentimental value to the customer. I have had commission pieces that were turned from trees that family members had planted and trees that were removed from a customers private property. I have made several items from the maple trees removed from the Elk County Courthouse. Over the past 6 years my improved skill level has allowed me to succeed in more challenging work. Recently, a local physical therapist has requested an order for custom made wooden back rollers called Nola Rola.
