The Tricounty Rails to Trails Association built and maintains the Clarion - Little Toby Trail. For over 25 years, this18 mile trail has connected Ridgway and Brockway in Elk and Jefferson Counties. The trail is heavily used by residents of all ages in Elk and Jefferson County, including families with children; its popularity is due to its accessibility and natural beauty. Despite living in a rural area surrounded by nature, private ownership and hilly terrain renders much of our landscape unapproachable for many individuals. The combination of the level surface of the trail and its physical location that meanders along the wild and scenic Clarion River is a winning combination that brings out bikers, walkers, runners and skiers of all ages. Regular users also include local individuals with disabilities – for whom the ability to easily enjoy the wonders of nature is meaningful beyond words. The trail also supports considerable local tourism. This trail is part of the PA Wilds Loop of the Industrial Heartland Trails.
